Der Manager Marcel Sieger ist es gewohnt, über Marketingstrategien und Verkaufszahlen zu diskutieren. Jetzt aber soll er mit Drogenabhängigen in einer Wohngruppe über Sucht und Aids sprechen. Marcel ist verunsichert. Wie verhält man sich in einer solchen Situation? Der 45jährige nimmt Teil an einer ungewöhnlichen Fortbildung: Für eine Woche wechseln Führungskräfte aus der Wirtschaft die Seiten und arbeiten in einer karitativen Institution als Sozialarbeiter. Zahlreiche Wirtschaftsunternehmen in der Schweiz sorgen auf diese Art für die Weiterbildung ihrer Chefriege. Ihre Hoffnung: ein besserer Führungsstil, soziale Kompetenz. Zudem soll die Akzeptanz des Unternehmens in der Öffentlichkeit steigen. |

Abstract |
Aufgrund der Zunahme von Medienberichten zur Research Chemicals (RC) haben wir uns entschieden die aktuellsten Infos zu den häufigsten RC’s zusammenzutragen. Bezüglich der Konsumsituation ist es uns wichtig festzuhalten, dass der Konsum von Research Chemicals im Raum Zürich eine Seltenheit darstellt. RC’s werden nur von einem kleinen Teil der “Partydrogenkonsumenten” konsumiert. Bis zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt werden unseres Wissens RC’s auch noch nicht an Partys oder auf dem Schwarzmarkt gehandelt, sondern ausschliesslich über das Internet bestellt. In sehr seltenen Fällen werden RC’s, vor allem Mephedrone, auch als XTC Tabletten verkauft. Wie sich der Konsum von RC’s in Zukunft entwickelt, ist schwierig vorauszusagen, wir werden diesen aber weiterhin im Auge behalten und sie gegebenenfalls über aktuelle Tendenzen informieren! |

Abstract |
alcohol consumption in the UK has increased rapidly in recent years, not just among young people, but across society. The population is drinking in increasingly harmful ways and the result is a range of avoidable medical, psychological and social harm, damaged lives and early deaths. As consumption has increased, the market for alcohol has grown substantially. This has been driven by vast promotional and marketing campaigns with the UK alcohol industry spending approximately £800m annually. alcohol marketing communications have a powerful effect on young people and come in many forms. These include traditional advertisements on television through ubiquitous ambient advertising to new media such as social network sites and viral campaigns. The cumulative effect of this promotion is to reinforce and exaggerate strong pro-alcohol social norms. Beyond marketing communications companies use integrated consumer marketing strategies including pricing, distribution and product design to develop and manage brands. Stakeholder marketing, including partnership working and industry-funded health education, is also used by the alcohol industry as a means to influence policy makers and regulators. This report examines the damaging effect of alcohol marketing on young people. It aims to identify effective ways of protecting young people from the influence of alcohol promotion and marketing, thereby redressing the excessively pro-alcohol social norms to which they are exposed. |

It should be read together with HIV/AIDS and Injection Drug Use: Legal and Ethical Issues, the report on phases I and II of the project, which contains a summary of the analysis of the seven priority issues, and the recommendations developed by the workshop participants. The report is based on the background papers in this volume and the comments made by workshop participants at the three workshops held between November 1997 and March 1999. |
