Abstract: Im Sozialbericht Kanton Zürich wird alljährlich die Entwicklung der Sozialhilfe und der anderen vom Bedarf abhängigen Sozialleistungen aufgezeigt. Grundlage ist die Schweizerische Sozialhilfestatistik mit ihren Informationen zu den Bezügerinnen und Bezügern von Sozialhilfe und weiteren bedarfsabhängigen Leistungen. Der Bericht enthält zudem eine Gesamtschau über alle Leistungen. Er dient als Nachschlagewerk bei Fragen rund um die Soziale Sicherheit im Kanton Zürich und bietet gesicherte Grundlagen für Entscheide in der Praxis. Aus organisatorischen Gründen erscheint der Sozialbericht 2008 als eine im Vergleich zu den Vorjahren um einige Kapitel gekürzte Version.

Abstract: The Report on the Challenge of Addiction is intended as a contribution towards an integrated understanding of addiction policy on the basis of a public health approach. From a health policy perspective, the Report proposes broadening the scope of addiction policy in Switzerland and changing its strategic focus and direction. It recommends ten principles. These are intended to contribute to a coherent policy response to the problematic consumption of all psychoactive substances and to behaviours with addictive potential.
